A Christmas Tree Trail Full Of Stories in Mijas Pueblo

December 24, 2025 Margaret

🎄 Ruta de los Árboles Solidarios in Mijas – A Magical Christmas Experience for All Families

If you’re spending the Christmas season on the Costa del Sol, Mijas Pueblo offers a beautiful and meaningful way to celebrate the holidays with children. On December 6, 2025, the town launched the 10th anniversary edition of the Ruta de los Árboles Solidarios (Route of the Solidarity Trees) — a festive tradition that brings together creativity, community, and the spirit of giving.

This year, families can enjoy 25 uniquely decorated Christmas trees, displayed along a charming walking route from Plaza Virgen de la Peña to Plaza de los Siete Caños in the historic centre of Mijas Pueblo. Each tree has been designed by local schools, families, associations, and residents, making every stop along the route a little surprise for children and adults alike.

🌟 An Easy & Free Family Walk

The route is completely free and perfect for families with young children. As you wander through the picturesque streets of Mijas Pueblo, you’ll enjoy festive lights, creative decorations, and a relaxed atmosphere that invites you to slow down and enjoy the season together.

Even if you don’t speak Spanish, this event is very easy to enjoy — it’s visual, interactive, and welcoming. Children love spotting the different styles of trees, from crocheted designs to colorful recycled creations.

🎁 Vote, Support a Good Cause & Win Prizes

Families can also take part in a friendly community vote by purchasing a solidarity voting leaflet, with all proceeds donated to Cáritas, a local charity supporting families in need.

By submitting a completed leaflet, you’ll also enter a prize draw featuring gifts donated by more than 30 local businesses in Mijas Pueblo. The most-voted tree will receive a commemorative plaque.

Voting leaflets are available at:

  • Mijas Pueblo Tourist Office
  • Farmacia Bootello
  • Calzados Moreno
